Nigerian afro-pop music singer, Idris Abdulsamad Aregbesola, aka SMD, is a budding musician.

SMD  began nurturing his dream of becoming a music star  since his childhood. According to him, he wasted his time focusing on football instead of chasing his dream career, music. He finally found his focus, two years ago, with the help of his nephew who is a music producer in Osun State. With two club banging singles, ‘Give me love’ and ‘Solace’ to his credit, the Kwara State-born is poised to put his foot on the Nigerian music scene with his addiction to making good music. In a chat, SMD, as he is popularly called, said  that music-making is an addiction for him.

He says:“I choose music because it’s something I’m addicted to. Not doing music is like not eating or sleeping and that is not possible; it’s something I’m just used to”. Speaking further, he explained how him being heartbroken inspired his second single, titled ‘Solace’.  He said that his ex-girlfriend inspired his single ‘Solace’. he was in love and got sidelined so he had to pour his  emotions into a song. So it can rightly be said that heartbreak inspired the single.

He added that his music is targeting  to foster national unity and also take Nigerian music to a larger audience.
