Messi overtakes Salah in race for Golden Shoe
Lionel Messi's hat-trick in the 4-2 victory from Sunday to Sunday on Sunday saw him overtake the rebounds of Mohammad Salah in the European Golden Shoe award.
The 41th hat-trick of Messi helped Barça to secure the LaLiga title with four remaining games.
This put the Argentinian at 64 points, two from Salah, who did not score 0-0 with Stoke City on Saturday.
Messi, who won the European Golden Boot last season, scored 37 chances to finish with a total of 74 points, is now in pole for another individual title.
He has four league matches remaining while Salah has two.
Third, the Ciro Immobile of Lazio, only two goals from Salah and three behind Messi; The Italian has three games of Serie A that remains to compensate for the deficit.
Robert Lewandowski of Bayern de Munich is fourth (28 goals, 56 points), while Edinson Cavani and Inter of Mauro Icardi of the PSG have 27 goals (54 points). Tottenham's attacker, Harry Kane, is seventh with 26 goals (52 points).
If Messi continues ahead of Salah, he would become the first player to win five European gold shoes (2009/10, 2011/12, 2012/13, 2016/17).
