Ambode of Lagos Sacks 5 LASTMA Officials, Promotes 14 Others

The government of the State of Lagos shows that it has no tolerance for the misconduct of its employees.

The state government recently fired five officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA. They were relieved of the jobs for violations, ranging from extortion, intimidation and violation of Lagos's public service rules.

General Manager, LASTMA, Olawale Musa revealed this on Thursday and said that the office recommended five of the unruly officials for dismissal and relegated 14 others, adding that 15 others received warning letters, while three others were exempted after careful investigation.

According to the GM, LASTMA, "the officers involved appeared in the month of April for the personal board of directors (discipline) to defend and give presentations on various actions that suffered from lack of discipline towards them,"

Musa condemned ceaseless attacks by traffic officials by drivers, especially commercial drivers, and said that the officials were on their way to ensure that motorists and commuters could travel to their destination without stress and discomfort.
