ON MY WAY TO THE TOP
Day by day without having to stop,
Along my pilgrim journey I've had to hop,
Superfluous loads I've had to drop,
All on my way to the top.
Starving from lack of sleep my eyes so red,
The hot rocky paths I've had to tread,
Very hard to find sufficient bread,
More hard to withstand the nightly dread.
Strong enough to rise each time I fall,
Too feeble at times to walk or crawl,
In a bid to move on I've had to drawl,
To rest my back I could find no wall.
Far behind me I saw the rest,
Pilgrims like me but who lost interest,
Striving to get to the top better than the best,
I journeyed on knowing I am different from the rest.
