Released WWE stars have no plans to team up again

From Edgeheads to Figure-Heads: A History of Zack Ryder and Curt ...

Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins were just two of many stars released by WWE last month due to budget cuts related to the coronavirus impact on their business.

Ryder, who was under contract with WWE for many years, had found success with Hawkins during his run with WWE. Now, that both stars are outside of the WWE banner, many fans thought that they may continue to team up together when they start working shows whether that be for a national promotion or independent wrestling shows.

However, while doing a Q&A on Instagram, Ryder made it known that they’ve mutually agreed that they won’t team together going forward unless two things happen. Instead, they plan to continue their podcast together.

“Brian and I talked about this. We are not teaming. We are not teaming anywhere unless one of the things we want to do is we do the Major Wrestling Figure live podcasts, but we’d like to put on live wrestling shows. I would love to team with him in that environment or I’d love to wrestle like the Rock N’ Roll Express or the Headbangers. But other than that, we’re going our own separate ways.”

As of this writing, there have been no reports about whether any national promotion has plans to sign either star.

There has been speculation that Ryder might go to AEW due to his friendship with Cody Rhodes and others in the company. Time will tell where these two stars land next.
