    Explosion: We fired to scare Boko Haram – Army

    The Army explained that the multiple sound of controlled-gun fire on Saturday morning heard in the outskirts of Maiduguri, was for “security calculations”.

    The Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa said in a statement that the gun fire was not targeted at the public.

    Musa denied reports  that Boko Haram attacked Maiduguri or neighbouring  communities.

    Nigeria decides 2019: Two APC chieftains arrested with PVCs in Benue

    Security operatives have arrested two men alleged to be members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State with Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs. Both men identify as Christopher and Terseer Iordye were nabbed today with a total of 43 PVCs. They were caught with the PVCs at Gbajimgba Secondary School polling unit.

    Presidential candidate,Fela Durotoye, arrives polling unit, says 'I expect no defeat'

    The presidential candidate of the Alliance for New Nigeria, Mr Fela Durotoye, has said Nigerians willl win if today's election is free, fair and credible.

    Durotoye, while addressing journalists at his polling unit, PU 033, VGC, said, "I am grateful today has come. Nigerians have the opportunity to be able to choose their future and shape the future of this nation."

    Tension mounts  in Abonnema, Rivers as PDP, APC supporters clash

    There was mild drama on Saturday morning in Abonnema, headquarters of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State as supporters of the People Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress clashed.

    The crisis was said to have emanated after the APC followers backed by military officials began harassing members of the PDP, who had come to vote.

    Nine boys arrested with charms in Lagos

    It has just been reported that Nine boys were arrested around 8am in Shomolu/ Bariga area of Lagos State.

    They were arrested brandishing charms and molesting electorate, while riding on motorcycles.

    The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu, said they have been transferred to Zone 2 for further investigation.

    He added that they would soon be charged to court.

    Voting is being delayed in some parts of Lokoja and Okene in Kogi due to failure of card readers.

    Bauchi voters use stones to reserve space on queue

    Voters at a polling unit in Bauchi used stones to reserve their spaces on the queue as they took refuge from the weather in sheltered places .

    They were waiting for INEC officials who had delayed their arrival as at the time of filing this report .

    Voting was supposed to have started at 8 am .
