    A Public Speaking Competition for Youths

    WHAT IS ORATICLE?

    Oraticle (Sorogbayi) is an English and Yoruba public speaking competition among youths. Its major intent is the need to refocus the minds of young people towards bringing up solutions to manifest societal gaps and challenges rather than complain without results.

    It also seeks to build a new crop of young leaders with adept and creative communication and public presentation skills. In addition, it is aimed at preserving the Yoruba Language as part of our culture and promoting the use of
    English Language-our national mode of communication.

    The maiden edition-ORATICLE 1.0-in 2017 focused on the theme: *“Good leaders, Good Followers” with the finalists making
    presentation on the topic: “If I were the next Governor of Osun, what will be my priorities?”

    The PANEL OF JUDGES consisted of:

    • Elder Segun Akinwusi-former Head of Service, Osun State
    • Barr. Bamidele Salam- Former Chairman, Egbedore LGA, Osun State
    • Alhaji Adeoye Bakare- Osun State Broadcasting Corporation
    • Mr Sharafadeen Lanre Issa- CEO, Pangorado Ltd, Lagos
    • Mr Deji Adefila- Osun State Broadcasting Corporation
    • Mr Gafar ‘Ola Musa- MD, Brewsun Associates Nig. Ltd



    This edition-ORATICLE 2.0-would focus on young people presenting an idea or project focused on creating solution or opportunities within Osun State. The idea or project should address any of the following:

    1. Agriculture and Food Security
    2. Employment and Wealth Creation
    3. ICT and Technology
    4. Talent, Sport, Culture and Tourism
    5. Civic Engagement and Good Governance
    6. Any of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that has impact on Osun State
    The competition will be among youths who are either indigenes or residents of Osun and are aged between 18 to 35
    years. PERSONS BELOW 18 WHO HAVE EXCEPTIONAL PROJECTS/IDEAS MAY BE CONSIDERED.
    ORATICLE is proposed to be conducted in English and Yoruba Languages.

    AIMS AND OBJECTIVES


    • To improve and awaken the personal communication and leadership skills of young people
    • To be an avenue of refocusing our minds on proffering solutions to societal challenges and taking action rather than complain without results
    • To preserve Yoruba Language as part of our culture and promote the use of English Language-our national mode of communication.
    • To be a means of calling the attention of individuals, stakeholders and government to issues of community development
    • To be an avenue of stimulating healthy competition and networking among the youths and the society
    • To be an avenue to educate a wider spectrum of people around the world about the sense of purpose, history, abundant human and natural resources; and developmental needs of our country.



    THE ORGANISER
    This project is an initiative of SEAD AFRICA.
    SEAD AFRICA is a business entity specialized in branding and printing solutions; idea creation; Social entrepreneurship, community development projects and consultancy. It has at its core, giving back to the society through its public awareness programmes, competitions, capacity building and training of young people.


    THE TEAM AND JUDGES

    There is an ORATICLE TEAM saddled with the responsibility of overseeing this laudable initiative. The team members are carefully selected young people who have been involved in youth development programmes and projects for years.


    The ORATICLE JUDGES/FACULTY consist of young and adult professionals from diverse area of endeavours-all of who are credible hands and are poised to drive this noble cause with utmost sincerity and fairness.


    ORATICLE eligibility

    • Do you have a great idea that can impact Osun State?
    • Are you between 18-35 years? Or below 18 with an exceptional idea?
    • Are you an indigene or resident of Osun?
    • Can you speak English and Yoruba fluently?

    HOW TO APPLY FOR ORATICLE  2.0
    PLEASE READ CAREFULLY and METICULOUSLY
    1.    Go through the eligibility features to know if you are qualified

    2.    Pay your subsidized registration fee of # 1000 into Account Name: SEAD AFRICA CREATIVES SYSTEM Bank: POLARIS BANK.     Account Number: 4091130531

    3.    Send details of your IDEA or PROJECT accompanied by a snapshot/ Screenshot of your Bank Teller/transfer details to oraticlesorogbayi@gmail.com before *12pm on Sunday 24th of December, 2018* Your idea should be in English Language, Microsoft Word document/pdf format (NOT MORE THAN 600 WORDS) while the payment confirmation should be in JPEG format (NOT MORE THAN 2MB)

    4.    Your application should also include your SURNAME, OTHER NAMES, AGE(GUARDIAN/PARENT NAME & PHONE NUMBER, If you are under 18years), GENDER, PHONE NUMBER, E-MAIL, OCCUPATION, SCHOOL (If you are a Student), LOCATION, LGA of ORIGIN, LGA of RESIDENCE, STATE of ORIGIN, STATE of RESIDENCE

    5.    The best 15 entries will be shortlisted after 24th December, 2018 and be contacted for the grand finale ( Semi final and finals) holding in January 2019. This physical presentations will be done in English and Yoruba Languages.
