Fayose remains our leader, Ekiti PDP caucus shun Olujimi

The tussle for the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti state has been resolved in favour of immediate past governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose, as the party’s caucus affirmed him as the leader of the main opposition party.
Fayose role in the party was contested by the Senate Minority Leader, Abiodun Olujimi, who believed she is the leader of the PDP in the state after the ex-governor exited office.
The disagreement on who should lead the PDP in the state has factionalized the party and prompted Police to takeover the party’s secretariat in the state.
Apparently reigning on the warring factions, PDP caucus in Ekiti state resolved that the party remains a united family that will work together to win the 2019 general elections.
While the caucus affirmed Fayose “remained the leader of the party (PDP) in the state”, it also set up two committees to look into the contentious issues that led to the stand-off.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting of the caucus in Ado Ekiti on Saturday, they also affirmed the Gboyega Oguntuase-led executive as the only recognised executive of the party in the state.
Those who signed the communiqué are former Deputy Governor, Prof Kolapo Olusola, Senator Duro Faseyi, House of Representatives member Kehinde Agboola, Chief Ademuwagun and Akinyele.
It urged party members and supporters to work for the PDP’ s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar during the 2019 presidential poll.
Olujimi, the senator representing Ekiti south, was conspicuously not in attendance. It remain to be seen whether the decision of the caucus will be accepted by her faction, who are adamant for Fayose to relinquish the position after concluding his tenure.
