YOUR GREATEST ENEMY by Philips Afolayan

Your greatest enemies are not those ones who are far away from you. Your greatest enemies are those who are close to you. They know your capabilities and you expect them to believe in you. But this is rarely so.

The greatest obstacles to your progress are those who know you, or let me say those who think they know you. They knew when you were struggling to make ends meet, the financial mistakes you have made and how you went bankrupt numerous times. So now that you say you want to be a financial consultant they raise their eyebrows in doubt of what you have to offer.

Those friends and colleagues who have known you over the years. They knew when you were having relationship issues and was in constant conflict with everyone around you. Now they are skeptical when you take up the role of relationship consultant.

They see you based on who you were, not who you are capable of becoming. They see you based on your flaws and imperfections, not on the strength and qualities you have garnered over the years.
Jesus Christ revealed to us that 'a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’ Matthew 10:36 (NIV). And he wasn't free from this himself.

In Mark 6:4 (NIV), 'Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.” So next time someone close to you, a friend or family member expresses doubt in your potentials, do not be deterred. Christ himself experienced this, so it isn't strange. Don't be intimidated, stay focused. Stick to what God says about you. Press on towards tour goal. Hone your skills. There are lots of people fighting the same battles you've won. Help them to overcome also. Make positive impact.

It doesn't usually mean they are evil. They just find it difficult to move on to the future like you did. Some of them are just scared that you might fail. If you don't ignore what they think or say, you'll not get anything done. If you keep at your dreams long enough, you'll break out and your success would be too massive for them to ignore or undermine.

So, stay strong through the process. And by God's grace, your victory is sure.
