2019: Alao-Akala Turn Down Advances To Return To PDP

Former Oyo state governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala has declared his resoluteness to remain with the All Progressives Congress (APC), turning down moves to convince him to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Alao-Akala made the declaration when he received two chieftains of the PDP, Seyi Makinde and Bisi Olopeniyan in audience at his Awosika residence in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state.
The PDP chieftains who visited the former governor on the need for him to return to the party, intimated him of the leadership vacuum created by Rasheed Ladoja, a former governor, who is on his way out of the main opposition.
Alao-Akala was governor of Oyo state between 2007-2011 on the platform of PDP but left the party prior to the 2015 election.
But Alao-Akala seemed not impressed to return to PDP as he turned down the advances of his guests, declaring unflinching commitment to APC and not prepared to dump the ruling party.
Alao-Akala noted that “he has no reason whatsoever to leave the APC as he enjoys a peaceful and harmonious working relationship with the leadership of the party right from the wards up to the National level hence he will not be able to honour the invitation extended to him.”
In a twist of situation, Alao-Akala who appreciated his guests for the consideration, however, extended invitation for them to join APC, assuring them of “a level playing ground to operate politically.”
