Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki Finally Dumps APC

The gale of defections in the All Progressives Congress (APC) continuous on Tuesday as the Senate President, Bukola Saraki from the ruling party.
For few weeks, speculations was rife on the former Kwara state governor ditching APC, which he and other members of the nPDP joined in 2014.
Last week, about 14 Senators and 37 members of the House of Representatives dumped the APC for opposition parties. While some settled for African Democratic Congress (ADC) and United Peoples Party (UPP), majority of the defectors pitched their tents with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It was, however, unexpected when Saraki, who have been having confrontations in the APC, didn’t announce his exit from the party.
But on Tuesday, he put to rest insinuations about his political bearing, when he took to his twitter handle @BukolaSaraki to announce his exit from APC.
“I wish to inform Nigerians that, after extensive consultations, I have decided to take my leave of the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he wrote.
He didn’t however announce which of the political party he is heading to but rumours are rife that he will return to PDP.
The senator representing Bayelsa west district, Ben Murray-Bruce, hinted that Saraki will be joining PDP, as he tweeted to welcome him to the main opposition party.
“Today, I am excited to welcome home to the @OfficialPDPNig, the very sagacious and excellent leader and president of the @NGRSenate, Distinguished Sen. @bukolasaraki. The @APCNigeria failed at putting you down, and inadvertently succeeded in making you stronger. Welcome home,” his tweet reads.
