I’m Not Afraid Of Probe, Fayose Dares Fayemi

Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose has played down fear of probe when he exit office, daring the governor-elect, Kayode Fayemi to go ahead with threat to look into the state’s book while he held sway in the state.
Shortly after presenting his certificate of return to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Villa on Thursday, Fayemi told state house correspondent that he would look into the book of the state during Fayose’s administration.
But responding, Fayose accused Fayemi of embarking on a vendetta mission, which he said will consume the former minister.
He dared Fayemi to begin the probe now instead of waiting till October 16 when he would be sworn in.
“It is obvious that he will be consumed in his vendetta mission and rather than grandstanding, Fayemi should first seek legitimacy for his stolen mandate,” Fayose said in a statement which Lere Olayinka, his spokesman, issued on his behalf.
“He (Fayemi) should stop living in the world where threat of probe scares people because we in the government of Fayose are not afraid of victimisation and vendetta that Fayemi is obviously coming with.”
Fayose described Fayemi as a beneficiary of a stolen mandate who is afraid to even come to the open to celebrate his false victory.
“Even yesterday (Wednesday) when he went to collect the certificate of the mandate that was snatched and handed to him by the powers that be in Abuja, he had to be protected by police helicopter and hundreds of armed policemen. One wonders how he is going to rule the people they forced him on,” he said.
“If Fayemi is on vendetta mission, which is obvious that he is, he will first destroy himself because like Ekiti and its people survived him during his first tenure, the people will outlive him this time too.”
Buhari plotting to stop me, six other governors from re-election– Ishaku
Chances of seven governors returning to office in 2019 is hanging in the balance as Darius Ishaku, governor of Taraba state, accused President Muhammadu Buhari of plot to stop their reelection, The Nation reports.
Ishaku who didn’t mention the name of the six governors except himself, disclose this when former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar visited him in Jalingo, the state capital, on Thursday.
Attributing the information to credible sources, the governor said he has told those seeking to remove him that only the wish of God would be done.
“I have been told on good authority that seven of us (governors) have been enlisted to be stopped from coming back in 2019,” he said.
“That all arsenals, whether airplanes, guns and whatever means shall be used to wrestle power from us by hook or crook.
“I told them they are not God. It was God’s willing that I am in the saddle as governor today.
“Everyone desires that Nigeria should be one. We must continue to keep the country united.”
Commenting on the killings in the state, Ishaku said: “I am the governor and chief security officer of my state, but in reality, I am helpless in terms of security. I am handicapped, I am a toothless bulldog.”
He dismissed the anti-graft crusade of the current administration, saying “corruption is not all about money.”
“Corruption is not all about funds. If someone steals N100 million and you jail him for 100 days and another person kills 100 innocent people with AK47 and you allow him to go free, it is the worst form of corruption.”
