Episode 18

The activities continued but I didn’t seem to concentrate no matter how much I tried. After about a half an hour, my phone rang and it was Bimbo. She told me she is back and asked me to come to her room. I went to her room and she hugged me as I entered. I asked if she saw me outside but she said she didn’t. I asked about her mum’s health and the whole family in general and she said they are all fine. I specially asked about her brother and she told me He had to travel to Abuja that afternoon for a program on Monday. I asked for what she brought for me and she handed a nylon bag to me. I checked the content and it contained toiletries and beverages. “What a caring lady!” I said to myself. We had some unnecessary chats before I finally left her room for mine. Although she promised to come to my room when she is done freshening up.

“Am I really doing the right thing?” I pondered as I found my way back to the room. I thought of how Bisi was telling me how much she loves me, I wondered if it was really true. I also thought of my love for Bimbo. Is it the right thing to do if I ask her out knowing well that Bisi loves me? We stayed in the same lodge and nothing will be hidden. I wondered on what to do next but I could not get a clue. I dropped the items in my room then I went to call on wole and invited him to my room. The only advice Wole could give me in that situation was to desist from dating both ladies at that moment. I should just play along with both and just keep up with this friendship maybe it will become this friends with benefit thing. Moreover, dating a girl in the same lodge with you may affect your social life. I reasoned with him and decided to play along.

I asked about Tolani as to why he has not gone to see her and he told me she had called to inform him that she will be arriving late from church. Wole wanted to have a share of what Bimbo brought for me. We were sharing them when we heard a knock. We had not said a word when we saw the door opening and Bimbo came in. She was shocked when she noticed Wole was in but Wole calmed her by saying “Bimbo baby, you went home but brought nothing for me.” Bimbo apologized with a smile and promised some other time.

“I am already sharing this one with Kunle, so bother not about today but next time, I will take everything from him.” Wole said and we all laughed. Wole quickly packed the remaining stuffs and left us both in the room. Bimbo sat on the bed facing me and was giving all the gists of what happened at home. She thought I was enjoying it but I wasn’t feeling comfortable as Bisi can come in at anytime.

‘Can we go to your room’? I asked. “Sure, I will be glad.” She stood up as she replied me and carried my laptop. I told her the battery is flat and she asked me to come along with the charger incase the light gets restored. As I was packing the charger, I saw the condoms where I kept them. My mind told me to pick one but I don’t know how to do that without her seeing me. I asked her to go with my laptop because I want to change my trousers, I will join her before 5minutes and she obliged. She went and I sat down thinking of what is happening. I was not sure if I could play the game well. I was deep in this thought when I saw my door opening and Bisi came in.

Upon seeing her, I got a shock and asked “Why didn’t you knock?” I wasn’t expecting a question in reply until she fired back “What is that girl doing in your room?” The question shocked me more but I made sure it did not reflect on my face. “Sssss-she just ccc-came to greet me” I stammered. My replies showed clearly that I was lying. “You know what? I am done with you” I wasn’t expecting this to come from her mouth so I was completely speechless. I couldn’t even beg as she said further “You guys are all the same” and she left my room.

I don’t know why I felt a bit relieved as she was leaving. I tried saying a word but it just felt unnecessary. I sank back into my bed and started thinking if I had hurt her feelings. The light was restored and Bimbo called me to bring the charger. I stood up and went to her room with the charger. I dropped it and left for Wole’s room to inform him about what just happened. I told Bimbo I would be back very soon as I gave her my password.

I told Wole what happened and the only advice he could give me was to stick to Bimbo since she is the one I truly love. I liked that advice but I wondered why Wole is contradicting himself, didn’t he say dating a girl in the same hostel will affect my social life?. I went back to Bimbo’s room and sat down with her. She wasn’t watching movies but viewing pictures. “You can’t see any lady there than graduation pictures and my family members.” She laughed and continued clicking the mouse for the next pictures to load. I wanted to tell her how much I love her, but I was not so brave. That was going to be my first time asking a girl out, although I was not a virgin. Funny right? “Bimbo” I called her name and held her hand as she turned to hear me out. Initially, I couldn’t say a word a we stared at each other. I ended the whole silent with “I am in love with you” and behold, another round of silence ensued. Who would break the silence?
