SUPERSTITION 1; A virgin in dilemma (18+) Episode 15

Episode 15

We got home around 11am and met some guys washing clothes very close to the water tap, while some were also outside having gist on football. I departed from Bisi as we entered the hostel gate and I went straight to my room after greeting some of those who sat outside.

I got to my room, plugged my phone, lay on the bed and slept off till around 4:00pm. I was feeling very hungry and tired, combined with slight headache and back pain. I remembered I hadn’t taken any meal since morning, so I went for “garri and friends”.

As I was fumbling with my garri, I checked my phone for missed calls and messages. I got missed calls from Wole, Bisi, Bimbo, a friend from home and a class mate of mine. After four missed calls from Bimbo, she had sent a message that I should call her as soon as I get her message.

I called Bimbo first and she picked up on the second attempt.

Me: Hello

Bimbo: How are you? Why didn’t you pick my calls?

Me: I am fine, I was charging my phone and I was asleep

Bimbo: You promised to chat with me last night, but you were not online.

Me: I am very sorry for that. I was at a party and I could not focus on my phone.

(I knew I should not say that only after it came out of my mouth)

Bimbo: Whose party?

(Now I know I have to lie)

Me: A friend’s birthday party, with some classmates.

Bimbo: when did you get back?

Me: Very early this morning, I had to sleep over at his place.

We talked further and she told me she will be back on the next day. I asked about her mum and she said she has seen her and she seems fine. We later hung up and I continued with my garri.

I did not want to call Bisi as I did not know what to say, but I summoned courage and called her back, but she didn’t pick up as well. I had a bath and went to Wole’s room without my phone.

I got there and saw a female’s footwear at the door. This made me realize that he is having a female visitor and I may not be able to give my gist in details. I knocked and was asked to come in. I went in and saw the girl sitting with Wole on his bed. She had a novel in her hand while Wole placed his laptop on his laps.

I reminded him that laptops should not be placed on the laps and teased further by saying “Abeg, have mercy on your future wife oo” He laughed as he reached for a small wooden board and placed it underneath the laptop, so as to avoid a direct contact between his laptop and his laps. Infact, he was the one who lectured me that placing laptops directly on the laps can cause “low sperm count”

“I missed your call, I was sleeping then.” I said. “I just wanted to confirm if you are back, when you didn’t pick up, I called Bisi and she said you guys came back in the morning” He said. I guess that was why Bisi called me. “Couldn’t you check me in my room?” I challenged. “I would have, if I wasn’t able to reach Bisi. Wole had come to my room only two times before that day even though, he got the room for me.

“Bro, how was the party?” The question hit me like a gun shot that I didn’t know what to answer with. I sighed and stammered it was fun and added “We will talk more later.” “Hope it is not what I am thinking?” Wole asked. I feigned innocence and demanded to know what he was thinking. He laughed and I said “Whatever!” –the world I often use when I am deeply caught in a situation.

I remembered his warning text and asked him about it, but he silent me by saying “We will talk later on that.”

I greeted the lady on seat by saying “Good evening sister” and she responded with a smile. Although, she looked older than I was but that would not hide the fact that she was very beautiful and busty. She had her hair plaited in the traditional style which made her look more beautiful and natural and she wore a short colourful gown.

Wole introduced us to each other. The only things I could remember vividly was her name which is Tolani, she was his friend and that she was in 300level. He introduced me as a “brother like a friend.” That is how we introduce each other to people. I checked the book Tolani was holding and realized it was ”Two by two” authored by Nicholas Sparks. “I had read one of his books titled “Safe Haven”, in fact, I had seen it movie.” I said to her. She was impresssed to hear that because she had read it too, but had not seen the movie. She asked where she could get the movie and I told her I have it on my laptop. I promised to help her with it when she is ready. Wole interrupted by saying. “I wonder what you guys derive from romance, romance are for kids, not adults.” The lady smirked at him and I watched the two. “We are kids anyway. I said, and we all laughed. ”Wole love to read novels too, but not a fan of romance. I don’t have choice, I read anything that comes my way.

Tolani was very friendly and accommodating. She cooked noodles and we ate. Eventhough I had garri earlier but the aroma could not be ignored. Tolani decided to leave when it was almost 6pm and we both saw her off to the junction, where she could easily get a bike.
